Essay
The purpose of the essay portion of the Loyola application is to give
you the opportunity to make a personal statement and to demonstrate
your
creativity and ability to organize and express your thoughts. Please
type or legibly write your essay on a separate piece of paper. Please
remember to include your name, social security number, and the date
on
the paper. Please note that this essay will be used as an important
document in scholarship consideration. In 500 words or less, write
about one of the following topics:
- A significant amount of the university curriculum revolves
around the process of considering "assumed truths" from alternative
perspectives. Discuss a matter you once thought you know "for sure",
that you have since learned to question. How has this changed you and
the manner in which you approach particular situations? - Generations are often labeled and described by the politics,
fads and challenges of their particular time period. What obstacles do
you think your generation will face? How, in your opinion, will your
generation deal with those issues? - “New Orleans is a tale of two cities presently. Loyola asks its students to think critically and act justly at this time. What will your contribution be?”
- Topic of your choice.
