Federal Work-Study Program
The Federal Work-Study Program is a federal financial aid work program partially funded by the United States Department of Education. Loyola University contributes a portion of the funds for the program. The university administers this program in accordance with the laws, federal regulations, and instructions issued by or on behalf of the Department of Education, as well as its own institutional policies.
In order to qualify for a work-study award, students are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) which can be obtained from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Returning students will receive a renewal FAFSA by mail. Student’s eligibility to participate in the work-study program is reviewed annually. Work-study awards are given for the academic year (approximately August – May).
Students must also meet the following conditions:
- Demonstrate financial need through the financial aid application process, receive a work-study award and accept the offer.
- Maintain good standing and satisfactory academic progress while employed in the program.
- Be accepted for enrollment or be enrolled as a full-time student (part- time students will be considered if there are funds available after full- time students are placed).
- Not in default on any federal Title IV loan program and not owe a repayment of a federal grant or scholarship.
