Portfolio Requirements

 

Bachelor of Arts in Art
Artist Statement
  • This program is geared to students who want to make art and also wish to pursue interdisciplinary, art-related careers, such as museum or gallery curation, art conservation, art therapy, education, etc.
  • In 400 words or less tell us about your art-making and why you are interested in pursuing a career in an art-related field
  • You can answer this prompt in any manner you see fit, but you may use the following questions to guide the content of your essay:
    • What role does art play in your life?
    • What role do you want art to play in your future?
    • What inspires you in your own art-making?
    • How would you like to use art in your professional life?
Portfolio
  • Submit 10 to 15 pieces of your best and most recent work
  • When compiling your portfolio, you may include whatever media you wish (drawings, prints, photographs, paintings, video, sculpture, ceramics, etc.)
  • All the works you submit as part of your portfolio should include a title, a brief (1-2 sentence) description, and the date of completion
  • Please do not mail us original works or physical portfolios

 

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art

 

Artist Statement
  • This program is geared to students who desire a studio-intensive program and wish to pursue a career as a professional visual artist
  • In 400 words or less tell us why you want to be an artist
  • You can answer this prompt in a manner you see fit, but you may use the following questions to guide the content of your essay:
    • Regarding your artwork, where do your ideas or images come from?
    • What materials do you work best with? (e.g. paint, pencil, clay, printmaking, photography, etc.)
    • Does the history of art, specific artists, or periods of art history influence or inspire you?
    • How do you determine when a work of art is finished?
Portfolio

Submit a Digital Portfolio

 

Digital portfolio submissions must fulfill the criteria outlined in the portfolio requirements. All digital portfolios are submitted through the Loyola Application.

The priority talent scholarship deadline to submit your Loyola Application is March 1, 2020.
