Biography

My favorite thing about New Orleans is Mardi Gras, of course! Being a New Orleanian I have been attending Mardi Gras parades since I was able to catch a bead, but my favorite thing about Mardi Gras is participating in its traditions.

My fascination with Mardi Gras allowed me to participate with a local krewe (a Mardi Gras organization) as one of its maids (part of the royal court). Being a member of the court allowed me to be presented at the krewe’s coronation ball and ride a Mardi Gras float on the day of the parade.

Another awesome thing about Mardi Gras are the bands and performance groups who participate in the parades. I also have participated in this Mardi Gras tradition by marching with the Loyola University Dance Team in several parades. So while most people like to sit on the neutral ground (aka the grassy area in the middle of the street) and watch the parades roll by, I say why not join the fun and participate in the festivities that make New Orleans the place to be.
