John Snyder, the Conrad N. Hilton Eminent Scholar in Music Industry Studies, has produced nearly 300 recordings since 1977, of which 34 were nominated for Grammy Awards and, of those, five won. He is also the president and founder of Artists House Foundation, a nonprofit music company.

Scholarships

Freshman scholarships are based on outstanding academic records, competitive test scores and significant community involvement. Talent based scholarships are also available in music, theatre arts, and visual arts. Partial tuition scholarships range from $2,000 - $16,000 annually. In order to be considered for a scholarship, please provide all the information necessary to gain admittance to Loyola by December 1. Your admittance credentials will determine your scholarship eligibility. The application for undergraduate admission includes a checklist of the things you need to do to apply for admission to the university.

An interview is required for all candidates for the Ignatian Scholarship for Academic Excellence, and strongly recommended for all other scholarship types. The interview may take place either before or after you apply to the university, but must be done by December 1. Please remember that all applicants must submit a resume displaying significant community involvement and demonstrated leadership abilities.

The test scores and GPAs listed below are the minimum for which to compete for scholarships.

Ignatian Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects, as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions; minimum 29 ACT composite or minimum 1300 SAT combined score; December 1 deadline.

Dean's Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects, as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions; minimum 29 ACT composite or minimum 1300 SAT combined score; December 1 priority deadline.

Loyola Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Minimum cumulative 3.2 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects, as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions; competitive test scores; December 1 priority deadline.

Business Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Minimum cumulative 3.2 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects, as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions; remain a business major for four years; competitive test scores; December 1 deadline.

Social Justice Scholarship

Minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4-point scale in academic subjects as calculated by the Loyola Office of Admissions; must submit a resume of demonstrated commitment to community service in the promotion of social justice; intent to major or minor in sociology; December 1 deadline.

Theatre Arts Scholarship (Theatre Arts majors only)

By audition and appointment. Theatre Arts audition days: Saturday, December 1, 2007; Saturday, February 16, 2008; and Saturday, March 1, 2008.
