What is a learning community?

Learning communities (LC) are housed on the ninth, tenth, and eleventh floors of Buddig Hall, a 12-story undergraduate residence hall. Each co-ed suite houses four students in double rooms with a shared bath and individual heating and air-conditioning controls, basic cable service, and local telephone service.

Availability in each learning community is limited to 20 residents.* If you are interested in applying to any of the Loyola learning communities, please indicate this on your Residential Life Housing Contract.

Learning communities provide a distinctive opportunity for students to live in a select community where they will work closely with both student staff and professional staff to pursue a range of outside-the-classroom studies. While the Cardoner Fellows Learning Community does offer a for-credit class, most of our LCs do not.

If you would like to learn more about specific learning communities at Loyola, please contact Reagan Sidney, Assistant Director of Residential Life at rgsidney@loyno.edu or call (504) 864-7098.

* Availability in the Honors LC is limited to 40 residents.
