Audition + Interview Requirements
Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts (+ Minor in Business Administration)
Headshot + Resume
- You will upload your headshot and resume to your College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application
- The resume should highlight different roles or capacities you have fulfilled in theatre productions
Monologue
- You will perform two contrasting age-appropriate 60-120 second monologues from works of established playwrights- memorized
- The monologues you select should be from a stage play
- Before performing your monologues, be prepared to state your name, the title of the play, the name of the playwright, and the character you are performing as
Technical Portfolio (optional)
- If you are interested in the production aspects of theatre (technical, design, playwrighting, etc.), you may submit a portfolio highlighting your accomplishments within these areas
- Your portfolio may contain drawings, paintings, costumes, scripts, craft/woodworking projects, etc. Your portfolio must be digitized and uploaded to your College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application
- Applicants who submit a technical portfolio only need to perform one monologue (see above for monologue requirements)
Interview
- The interview consists of a conversation with Theatre Arts Department faculty members
- You will be asked to express your goals and aspirations, past experiences in theatre arts, why you want to study at Loyola, etc.

Theatre Songs
- You will perform two contrasting musical theatre songs in their 16-measure audition version- memorized
- There will be an accompanist provided for on-campus auditions. You must bring sheet music for our accompanist in a 3-ring binder

- The interview consists of a conversation with Theatre Arts Department faculty members
- You will be asked to express your goals and aspirations, past experiences in theatre arts, why you want to study at Loyola, etc.

Theatre Arts Department On-Campus Audition/Interview Dates
Saturday, December 2, 2017 - Early Action/Spring Audition Date

- All on-campus auditions and interviews are scheduled through the College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application
- Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email that outlines further details about the day’s schedule
- There are no pre-screening requirements for on-campus auditions
- Loyola’s Discount Hotel Rates
- Please DO NOT make reservations for accommodations until you have received confirmation of your on-campus audition/interview
- On-campus audition/interview days typically take place from 8:00AM until 2:00PM. However, the duration of the event is subject to change. Please contact the Office of Admissions (504) 865-3240 admit@loyno.edu with any scheduling issues
Friday Visit Experience
Applicants auditioning/interviewing for the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance are invited to attend a Friday pre-audition visit experience. During the Friday visit experience, you’ll have the opportunity to sit-in on classes and workshops, meet with faculty members, tour the campus and residence halls, eat in our dining hall and more! You will receive an emailed invitation to the Friday visit experience once you have registered for your on-campus audition through your College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application. These Friday visits will occur on:
- Friday, December 1 2017, for December 2 auditionees
- Friday, January 19 2018, for January 20 auditionees
- Friday, February 23 2018, for February 24 auditionees
Video Auditions + Remote Interviews
Applicants who are unable to attend an on-campus audition and/or interview may submit a video audition and schedule a phone/Skype interview. Video auditions must include the repertoire outlined in the audition requirements. All video auditions and remote interviews are submitted/scheduled through the College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application. A purely audio audition (without video) is unacceptable and will not be reviewed.
The priority talent scholarship deadline to submit your College of Music and Fine Arts supplemental application is March 1, 2018.
